I WAIT

I wait,
invisible worms
glide across fluorescent dawns

I wait
and
wait,
grim obelisks
pop up every now and then
like
unwelcome lizards
grasping
rasping

I wait
and
wait
and wait,
the rest of the world
revolves,
oh, yes
it revolves

I wait
wait
and wait
and wait
restlessness fills my zones
intolerant gulls
peck at my insides
hungry for progress

I wait
wait
and wait
wait and wait
impatience fills my soul,
the helicopters overhead
the electric drill sounds
your confusion
your not knowing
that everything is now
it swirls it swirls
a shifty side-footed waltz
that escapes analysis

Yes
I wait
like
the painted
vestige
of some crappy neo-poet's
pathetic verse
